Meet Cheyenne Chiropractor, Dr. Jared Morrow

There is a good chance I was a lot like you when I was younger and didn’t know a lot about chiropractic.

Cheyenne Chiropractor, Dr. Jared Morrow

I first heard about Chiropractic from my mother and really had no idea what a chiropractor did. I was a busy, active guy, involved in lots of sports, Boy Scouts, and extracurricular activities, and I suffered the usual bruises and cuts that go along with that lifestyle.  When I was 13, however, I had an experience that ended up being my introduction to chiropractic care.   I injured my lower back playing on a youth baseball team, and, even though my mother took me to two different doctors, each of whom gave muscle relaxants and pain medication,  the pain kept coming back.  My mother finally took me to a chiropractor and, after a few adjustments, I was back playing baseball, the sport I loved!    So chiropractic had a huge impact on me that summer and as a child!

I also played baseball through college and never forgot how chiropractic helped me when I was younger!  Then, during my junior year of college, two teammates decided to become chiropractors, and I was once gain intrigued by the natural approach to health on which chiropractic is centered.   An approach without drugs or surgery to helping people regain their health and improve their quality of life. It wasn’t long before I knew that studying chiropractic would be perfect fit with my background and my ideas about living a healthy lifestyle.

Education Journey

Once I set my goal to become I chiropractor, I looked for the strongest program possible.  In the summer of 1998, I moved to Davenport, Iowa, to attend Palmer Chiropractic College. Palmer was the first ever chiropractic college and known to be the best at the time.   The first year was intense. By the time it was over, I knew every bone, nerve, artery, vein, and muscle in the body.  The second year was just as hard, but this time it focused on how all parts of the body work together, guided by the nervous system.  During the third year, we began learning the art of adjusting, and I experienced the satisfaction of helping people improve their health and quality of life through chiropractic.

I played rugby throughout my time at Palmer and often felt the old aches and pains after practice or a game.  The good thing was that my teammates and I practiced adjusting each other after playing rugby and, in the process, learned about adjusting different body types.  Not only was that a learning experience, but it was also a weekly reminder of how effective chiropractic care is to helping the body restore health and balance.

Practice philosophy

My experience at Palmer educated me about the chiropractic philosophy  and proved to  me that the chiropractic model works.  I want you to know that your body is a self-healing, self-regulating organism and your nervous system is being the master control system. It controls and coordination all the different functions and processes of the body.  Because we live in a world filled with so many environmental and lifestyle stresses, your spine and nervous system are constantly under an enormous amount of stress.

Misalignments of the spine cause nerve interference which adversely affects your bod’s ability to self-heal and self-regulate. The chiropractic adjustment removes nerve interference, allowing for improved nerve supply to and from the body to help improve quality of life and function. Another major benefit of the adjustment is improved function and movement of the spine. The better your spine moves, the  slower it ages.

Its that simple. Don’t you want to age as slowly as possible? Me too! My goal is to help you understand where health comes from and how to achieve and maintain health through proper lifestyle and the chiropractic adjustment. I often say “Health by choice, not by chance.”

Personally

I am blessed to have a very balanced life with a rewarding career  I love. When I am not in the office I enjoy staying active and spending time with my amazing wife Kristen,  my daughter Carmen and son Mason.  During the winter, I ski and snowboard as much as possible. I have met a lot of friends over the years and look forward to travel during the winter since winters here can be pretty rough.  When summer comes, I am ready for baseball, my favorite sport!  I grew up loving  and playing baseball. This past year (’17) I helped coach Mason’s baseball team and absolutely loved it.   I also enjoy camping and fly-fishing with my family.  Having this balance helps me show up to the office Monday feeling fresh, focused, and ready to help people achieve good health naturally.

I truly believe in leading by example. I know the importance of keeping my spine healthy, so I get adjusted  two times a week.  Every morning as part of our morning routine, Gina, Nicole, and I lay on our Denneroll cervical orthotics for 15 minutes while we meditate.  I also exercise on a regular basis at least 5-6 days a week.  I did crossfit for 3-4 years and loved it.   I now have everything I need in my garage and continue to do crossfit styled workouts.  From my experience and training, I have found that a combination of weight resistance training and high intensity interval training to give me the best results.

I also strive to follow a very healthy diet. I eat mostly whole fruits and vegetables in their natural form and eat organic and raw when possible. One of the best investments I ever made toward my health was buying a Vitamix, a blender I use to make fresh veggie and fruit drinks.  I also eat a lot of grass fed, open range, antibiotic free, hormone free chicken and beef.

These healthy habits have helped me maintain my health. I haven’t missed a day of work since I opened 14 years ago and have only taken an antibiotic once in over 14 years.  I attribute this to my healthy lifestyle and having consistent and regular chiropractic adjustments since entering chiropractic college in 1998.

I feel blessed to be a chiropractor and in a position to help you regain or maintain your health and quality of life through education and chiropractic care. Please give our office a call to find set up an appointment and find out how chiropractic care can help you.
